What is a cps tester?

As technology continues to evolve and become more advanced, so do our testing options. A cps tester or current-probe tester allows electrical technicians to measure current and voltage of devices without causing any damage. It is a device that can be used in medical and industrial applications.

A CPS tester is usually a hand-held device that involves producing a magnetic field at the tip of the instrument. This magnetic field then induces an electric current in any conductor nearby, allowing for the precise measurement of AC or DC readings. The device can measure oscillations as well as static currents like those from batteries and power sources.

Using a CPS tester helps eliminate the risks associated with traditional testing procedures such as shorting circuits or direct contact with wires and components that can cause damage. With this equipment, technicians can check continuity, verify resistance measurements, and probe live components with minimal risk, making them ideal for troubleshooting complex circuitry designs.

CPS testers are also commonly used during maintenance tests and other electrical tests on things like circuit breakers, transformers, and even consumer electronics items. These testers provide real-time measurements with high accuracy so you can confirm each component's serviceability quickly and confidently. They are especially useful in testing liquid-filled tanks due to their ability to quickly zero out residual currents before taking a series of readings.
